Each drop of our tinctures embodies the vitality of the land, crafted with intention and infused with premium organic ingredients to ensure exceptional purity. No compromises—just the raw, natural power of the wild, enhancing your body’s natural balance and resilience.

What is an herbal tincture?

An herbal tincture is a concentrated liquid extract of herbs. We use traditional methods to extract beneficial plant compounds using organic alcohol or alternative natural solvents like glycerin or vinegar.

Every tincture bottle label will indicate the extraction ratio. For example, a 1:2 ratio
signifies that for every one amount of herb, two amounts of liquid (alcohol, glycerin, and/or distilled water) are added and combined. The herb and liquid are placed in a glass jar for however long it takes the extraction process to reach its final concentration, often 6 weeks and longer. Subsequently, the plant material is filtered from the liquid, resulting in the tincture. Note that the final quality of the tincture depends on the quality of the initial herbal material, and how that herbal material was handled throughout the entire process.

How do your tinctures work?

Tinctures allow for quick and effective absorption of herbal properties, delivering
plant-based benefits in a highly bioavailable form.

Plants contain numerous natural chemical compounds, often referred to as herbal constituents. In many cases we understand how these compounds work, yet often we do not yet understand. There is an abundance of traditional, practical, and scientific evidence indicating their wide ranging health benefits and value.

The WHO estimates that 80% of the world's population uses herbal medicines for some aspect of their primary health care. In the USA, the number is closer to 20%.

What does CORDIFOLIA mean?

Heart-Shaped Leaves

In botanical terms, "cordifolia" (from Latin cor, meaning "heart," and folium, meaning "leaf") signifies having heart-shaped leaves.

CORDIFOLIA is more than just our name—it’s a philosophy. It represents the balance between the mind and the heart, the cognitive and the emotional, reminding us to embrace both wisdom and intuition in our journey towards wellness.

At Cordifolia, we ethically wild-harvest medicinal herbs, crafting some of the most trusted herbal tinctures available. Every drop is a reflection of our deep respect for nature and our commitment to purity, sustainability, and the power of plant medicine.

Cordifolia also calls us to reconnect—with the earth, with ourselves, and with the healing energy of plants. Through mindful harvesting and traditional herbal wisdom, we create tinctures that not only support the body but also nourish the soul. Let Cordifolia guide you back to nature, where heart and mind find their perfect balance.

Why choose a tincture over capsules or teas?

Tinctures are more concentrated, absorb quickly, and have a longer shelf life than teas. They also allow for precise and customizable dosing. We put all our effort into making the best tinctures - we make nothing else.

How do I take your herbal tinctures?

In general, add the suggested drops to water, tea, or juice, or take them directly under the tongue for quick absorption. For bitters, take them on the tongue to fully experience their benefits.

How much should I take?

Dosage depends on the specific tincture and individual needs. Follow the instructions
on the label or consult an herbalist for personalized guidance.

Why do you recommend collaborating with an Herbalist?

Consulting an herbalist is an invaluable step on your wellness journey. Herbalists are trained in the art and science of plant medicine, offering personalized guidance to help you harness the full potential of herbs in supporting your health. With their deep knowledge of how different herbs interact with the body, an herbalist can provide tailored recommendations to address your unique needs—whether you're seeking relief from stress, support for digestion, or balancing your energy.

Herbalists also understand the delicate balance between herbs and other health factors, ensuring you find the right combinations and dosages for maximum benefit. They take into account your lifestyle, emotional well-being, and individual health goals, offering a holistic approach that empowers you to take charge of your wellness naturally.

By working with an herbalist, you gain not just expertise but a trusted partner in your path to healing. They can guide you through the vast world of plant medicine, helping you make informed, safe, and effective choices for your health—helping you feel your best, inside and out.

When is the best time to take a tincture?

It varies—some tinctures, like those for energy and focus, are best taken in the
morning, while calming and sleep-supporting blends are better in the evening.

What type of alcohol do you use in your tinctures?

We use pharmaceutical and food grade, certified non-GMO and organic cane alcohol to extract and preserve the full spectrum of beneficial plant compounds. The sugar cane adds a very slight sweetness to the tincture.

It might be useful to know that 20 drops of standard alcohol based tincture equals about the same amount of alcohol in a regular banana. Here is a fascinating study on estimates of ethanol exposure in children from food not labeled as alcohol-containing, like fruit and bread.

Do you offer alcohol-free tinctures?

Yes, kinda! We can create alcohol-free tinctures using organic vegetable glycerin or apple cider vinegar for those who prefer an alternative extraction method. Just let us know before harvest season.

Please be aware that many herbal compounds/constituents extract poorly with glycerin and vinegar. However, there are some herbs that require glycerin in addition to alcohol for optimum extraction, for instance, Hawthorn and Red Root.

Are all of your ingredients organic?

We only use wild-harvested herbs, painstakingly gathered from their natural habitats for maximum potency. All additional ingredients, that we can't make ourselves, such as alcohol or glycerin, are from the best certified organic sources. Any water we add is first distilled, which is a method of purification used in laboratory settings.

At CORDIFOLIA, we believe the best herbal medicine comes straight from nature—pure, wild, and full of life. That’s why we don’t farm our herbs; we seek them out where they grow naturally, thriving in untouched forests, meadows, and mountains. Hand-harvested with care and respect, our herbs are as nature intended—free from chemicals, full of potency, and bursting with the wisdom of the earth.

Are your tinctures safe for children?

Some of our tinctures are suitable for children when used in appropriate doses. We always recommend consulting a healthcare professional before giving to children under 18.

Can I take your tinctures while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Certain herbs are beneficial during pregnancy and lactation, while others should be avoided. Always consult your healthcare provider before using herbal tinctures during this time.

How should I store my tincture?

Store in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Proper storage ensures potency and extends shelf life. Always keep out of reach of children.

We ship all tinctures with standard droppers, however, should you require "child resistant" droppers please let us know and we will be happy to provide those to you!

Do tinctures expire?

Alcohol-based tinctures have a long shelf life, often lasting several years, with 5-10 years being common, sometimes longer. Non-alcoholic tinctures, like those made with glycerin, have a shorter shelf life and should be used within 1 year.

NOTE: Every bottle of CORDIFOLIA tincture has a Lot number on the label. The last 6 digits indicate when an herb has been harvested by us. For instance Lot# PB112622 would have been harvested on November 26th, 2022.

Can I take multiple tinctures together?

Many herbs work synergistically and can be combined safely. However, it’s best to
check for any potential interactions and consult an herbalist if unsure.

How long does it take to notice results?

Some tinctures, such as those for relaxation or digestion, may work quickly, while
others, like those for hormonal balance or immune support, require consistent
use over time.

Can herbal tinctures interact with medications?

Yes, certain herbal remedies can interfere with the efficacy of prescribed medications. It is advisable to consult a healthcare professional before incorporating herbal tinctures into your regimen if you are taking any prescription drugs.
